What is self love?

Mantra of the week: Just like an empty bottle of water, I cannot pour out for others that which I do not have myself.

"Self care" and "Self love" have become trendy terms, but what do they really mean?

You cannot pour from an empty bottle.

Take care of yourself and fill up your cup so that it overflows. Self care is never selfish, it is self preserving and fortifying, it is essential.

When you feel nourished from the inside out, it feels natural and easy to share your energy with others. When you are depleted, your light is dim (even if others cannot perceive it), you are at risk of burning your life giving flame out.

Remember, there are always opportunities to nurture oneself in little ways, and larger ways. We so easily tell our friends to take time off, nourish, restore, not to worry, to put their needs first - words we may keenly need to hear ourselves.

So, be your ally this week (and always). Nourish your whole being, your inner temple, and the rest will follow.

Quote of the week:

When the well's dry, we know the worth of water.
